Bambi and Thumper

2009 January 9

Mammals have morals some humans don’t.

I spent yesterday delivering materials to a number of businesses and organizations in my city. The flier I was distributing had to do with legislation regarding the wage gap. (Side note: what affects women and children affects humanity) I discovered that Planned Parenthood ramps up their security on two weekdays. An armed guard escorted me to the reception area once I was searched. I mentioned that things must have changed since I last stopped in. Kind of haunted me.

The issue of choice is a life or death matter, I think most will agree on this point. Thoughts of choice and morals followed me in my mind through the day in mind provoking fashion.

That evening I had the honor of listening to Carolyn Jessop, the author of Escape, who spoke before a crowd of a few hundred at the Public Library of Des Moines. The story of her life, and the FLDS cult she fled from along with her eight children, unveiled yet another war that is being waged against innocent life; the life of those subject to incest and rape. These crimes against humanity that she speaks about, and the ignorance of it all, showed up in the audience with the questions that were asked. Babies born through incest from generations rarely survive, some in the audience just learned this last night

There is a faceted view on this subject of conception when it does not occur between two consenting adults. When the life of a mother or child is at stake, choice takes on a new meaning. Women say yes to life when the choice for conceiving exists, statistics tell us so. The act of conception was meant as a mutual decision between two but we live in a society of baby rapers who play God with life. We live in a culture of pornography, human trafficking and it’s killing the human species. Life is to be protected, but who is protecting the life of a child (mother) whom a baby is born too? Who is protecting a girl or a woman who is preyed upon and subject to violence in her home?

Can you imagine Bambi and Thumper subject to such a daunting challenge living in the dark of the forest with those of their own species hunting for flesh — this doesn’t occur anywhere in the nature of the mammal species. Sometimes there is no choice — this evolve or die world is hardly PG.

What women want has little to do with being equal to men, that’s a myth that lacks intelligent thinking.
