Sometimes I embarrass my daughter Bailey. She has an image of me that I must always uphold, especially if I come anywhere near her school or her friends. It’s an alter image I refer to as “Jane Public.” Bailey’s eleven and I’m forty five, though admittedly I don’t always act it. Which is fine at home, but if I’m in public … well, it’s a different story then. Bailey has rules — like the one that says I’m not allowed to wear wax lips unless we’re in a different state and only when we’re caught in bumper to bumper traffic. Like the one she created eight days ago that says I’m not allowed to climb on a rock formation at the botanical center. Not even for a good photo, not even if I need some adventure.

I’m all kinds of silly and often wonder when my daughter will start being embarassed by me. :O) Hopefully she never will and will learn to just play along with me.
